Black Romance

The dark side takes over...(your face)

Thought the blog about the gothic trend was over? You, my internet friend, are sadly mistaken. You see, in order to fulfil my interests in both beauty and fashion, I am alternating them. Anyway, the dark trend was not just about clothes. Some of the most striking and the most beautiful looks on the catwalk this season were on the faces of the models wearing the trend. One of the biggest trends within a trend (think of it as beaut-ception), was a black smokey eye, graphic eyeliner, and dark lips. Combined. Yes, you read that right, combined. And what's surprising is, they don't look trashy or overpowering. Maybe a bit striking for everyday life, but that is what I am here for. I've created an everyday look based on this trend (see above photo, where, yes, I am aware, my eyelids are SCARY, and I am also aware that that is a lot of commas.) So, if you want to look as weird as I do in said photo, read on.

One of the key things with this look is perfect skin. So don't go easy with that concealer! I used Maybelline's Super Stay 24 hr concealer, Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream, and Rimmel's Stay Matte powder. Now on to the eyes!
Here is a close up of my eye and I look stoned. Get over it. You want to take a pearlescent ivory-pinky colour over your lid all the way up to your eyebrows.
I used this colour in the Revlon quad 'Attitude'. It was actually meant for highlighting, but, hey, rules are made to be broken.
Here is another picture of my freaky-looking eye. But, although it might surprise you, I am not putting this on for my health. No. I am showing you my crease colour, called so because you put it in the crease of your eye. Genius, isn't it? Anyway, this is a plummy, purple-y, berry colour. Just shove it in as messily as you want, the more the better. Blend it out with the lighter colour we used before.
I used this colour in the Revlon quad 'Precocious'. Sorry for the out of focus-ness. Right, now we're on the last legs of the eye section. Onwards to the eyeliner!
First, and be warned, we're going in baby steps here, first, take your eyeliner across the whole of the upper lashline, making sure it's thin in the inner corner.
Next, find out the angle your lower lashline finishes, and continue upwards for about a centimetre in a straight line.
Now, from a third along your upper lashline, make another straight line to connect with the tip of the line you drew earlier.
Last, but certainly not least, fill in in between the lines, apply two coats of your prefered mascara, and your eyes are hot to trot.
And, by the way, just in case you were wondering, which you weren't, my eyeliner is Maybelline's Intense Black Gel Eyeliner. We're nearly finished now! Hold on!
I used a Revlon lip butter in Berry Smoothie on my lips, then patted the berry eyeshadow we used earlier over it to achieve a matte effect. Alternatively, if you want something glossier, go for Black Cheery by Revlon.

Right, now we're done! May I say, it has been a pleasure to come all the way through my first makeup tutorial with you fine people! And if your face doesn't look remotely like the picture below, go and ask someone who actually knows how to put on makeup. Or learn.

Bye!
